One of the regular series of Wednesday night talks was on how to build a ‘Cracker’, a small geared 16mm steam locomotive.

It’s a very simple and easily-made machine which lends itself to a variety of body types, of which we saw several during the evening.

description of the build process. There is also a link to a site where photos like the one below are shown, and from which drawings can be downloaded.

A similar type of locomotive is the
Cricket, which also has the option of different body styles.
